  • Positive Money UK

is a UK-wide movement to democratise money and banking so that it works for society and not against it.

What needs to change:

  • Money should be created free of debt
  • Money should only be created through a democratic and transparent body working in the public interest
  • Money should come into the real (non-financial) economy before it reaches financial markets and property bubbles
  • Banks should not be allowed to create money

What is Quantitative Easing anyway? Is it any good?

Positive Money Sheffield has organised a public meeting to look at the massive programme of Quantitative Easing which is about to be re-started, and why it is attracting increasing criticism.

This meeting will take place on Monday 31 October 2016, 7.30pm until 9pm at the Quaker Meeting House, St James St, Sheffield S1 2EW.

      • The Bank of England has spent an enormous amount of money – £375 billion – on Quantitative Easing (QE), and is going to add £70 billion more.
      • Positive Money is campaigning against this, and even the Prime Minister has complained about its “bad side effects” and said “A change has got to come”.
      • How is QE supposed to work, what’s wrong with it, and could it be replaced with something else?

The speaker – Mike Black – has supported Positive Money since it started in 2010, after years of trying to work out for himself how our strange banking system operates.

We ask for a £3 per head donation – just to cover our costs.
