is a UK-wide movement to democratise money and banking so that it works for society and not against it.
What needs to change:
- Money should be created free of debt
- Money should only be created through a democratic and transparent body working in the public interest
- Money should come into the real (non-financial) economy before it reaches financial markets and property bubbles
- Banks should not be allowed to create money

BANKING IS BROKEN – HOW DO WE FIX IT?
An Introduction to Positive Money
Adrian Byrne, the coordinator of the Manchester group, is going to speak on the basics of our monetary system and Positive Money’s solutions.
- Who creates our money
- What for
- What are the problems with this
- How to fix it
This will be followed by an opportunity for questions and a short discussion led by Richard Bruce.
This meeting will take place on Monday 27 February 2017, 7.00pm at the Quaker Meeting House, St James St, Sheffield S1 2EW
(note earlier time than usual)
We ask for a voluntary contribution of up to £5, depending on ability to pay. This is because of increased room charges.
If you would like more clarity on Positive Money’s basic message about the huge flaw ‘hidden in plain sight’ in our money system, or if you have friends you would like to introduce to it, this meetup could be a good opportunity.
